Energy Efficiency for New Build

How do we properly insulate when we are building from scratch?

In terms of insulation requirements, when building from scratch you will have an energy rating that is provided to you by your energy rater (through architect, designer etc). This will outline  the requirements you need to adhere to, whereas, an exisiting home does not need to meet minimum energy requirements.

From a battery system perspective, first is the decision of whether to be a national grid connected house or an off the grid dwelling. That initial decision will change a lot of the wiring and the system that needs to be put into place. Secondary factors that will affect your initial set up include back up energy storage, running your hot water system and the use of electric hotplates for cooking.

When living off the grid you can sell back to the grid – tariffs do fluctuate making less financial sense.
