Roof Overview

Home / Residential / Roof Insulation / Roof Overview
A house can loose up to 45% of its energy through the roof and ceiling, therefor adequate insulation is essential in this area and makes it a perfect place to start your insulation assessment.

Roofs and Ceilings work in conjunction with each other in relation to the insulation. There are options to install insulation under the roofing material to reduce heat gain. Alternatively, installing insulation in the ceiling can reduce transfer of heat and cold energy.

In hot climates where outdoor areas get high usage, verandah roofs should be insulated. The heat builds up under them and this can affect the comfort in the household.

Bulkheads (wall sections between different heights) must also be considered to be insulated at the same level as the ceiling, as they are subject to the same temperature extremes.
